Azalea is a Ghanaian nonprofit dedicated to helping children realize their potential by removing barriers that prevent them from fully participating in education and community life. We believe that a child’s future should not be determined by their access to basic health and sanitation resources. Yet across many communities, inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure continues to affect children’s’ health, confidence, school attendance, and long-term opportunities.

Our work begins with one simple question: What barriers stand between a child and their full potential?

For many girls, those barriers include limited access to menstrual health products, inadequate sanitation facilities, insufficient health education, and environments that make it difficult to manage their health safely and with confidence. Through partnerships with schools, communities, companies, and supporters, Azalea develops practical solutions that improve WASH services, girls' access to menstrual health resources, health education, and supportive learning environments. We view menstrual health not as an isolated issue, but as part of a larger ecosystem that influences educational attainment, confidence, leadership, and economic opportunity. Our approach aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, recognizing that access to safe sanitation and hygiene is fundamental to health, dignity, and human potential. Every program we deliver is designed with one goal in mind: To ensure that girls have the opportunity to learn, grow, lead, and build the futures they deserve.
